Northside Foursquare Church offers pre-marriage and marriage mentoring. If you are preparing for marriage a pastor or trained marriage mentors (a couple with a strong marriage) will meet with you to help you look at your relationship in detail.

Everyone who is thinking of getting married can benefit from marriage preparation. The best time to take it is at least 4 - 6 months before the wedding.

Everyone. No matter how well you know each other, even if you have already been living together. Being married is very different from not being married. Even people who have been married before will benefit from marriage preparation. There is special information for those marrying for a second or subsequent time covering topics like coping with a blended family and former spouse.

The goal of pre-marriage mentoring is to help you discover areas of strength in your relationship and to identify growth areas where you may have some work to do.

We believe marriage is one of the most important relationships of your life. It is certainly worth investing time and effort to make it healthy. Pre-marital mentoring will include 4 - 8, 1 ½ - 2 hour sessions with a pastor or marriage mentors. The first session will include a written assessment and homework. The results will be reviewed in the second session and a plan for follow up sessions made at that time. Completion of this assessment is mandatory and the reading of certain books may also be recommended. This is why starting early is important before you get into the wedding details.

Northside Foursquare Church is staffed with three pastors who are licensed to perform wedding ceremonies:

With the pastor’s heavy schedules, we have also been training married couples with lots of experience to mentor couples. You may be assigned to a marriage mentoring couple for the pre-marriage mentoring with the option of continuing to meet with them after the big day to walk you through those important first years. Everyone involved wants to give people a strong foundation to build an enduring and satisfying marriage. Even solid relationships can be made stronger.

We would love to give you a written guarantee that having completed our pre-marriage mentoring, you will live happily ever after. Obviously that’s not possible. However, people who have gone through our mentoring say they have new skills to build their relationship and new friends to help them along the way if the going gets tough.
